Development of a computer graphic model of functional anatomy of the human heart. A fiber based muscle action model was used for the mechanical contraction of the myocardium. Each muscle fiber is equipped with contractile and elastic elements and is used as a local deformation and volume preservation guide. Patient-specific and simulated action potential maps were used to electrically activate the mechanical model. The model provides visually correct anatomical and functional detail suitable for medical education.

The project was part of the "Algorithmic Human Anatomy" project, partly funded by a SMART Exceptional Award from the London Development Agency, UK.
Implementation was based on C programming and Houdini 3D animation software with VEX and OTL scripting.
Vassili acted as chief investigator.
