Vassili's other research and development work

Maya Dynamics(1999-2000)

Research work at the NCCA, Bournemouth University, using Alias Maya Dynamics and MEL scripting. a. Dynamic behaviour of ropes interacting with constraints, gravity and rigid obstacles.b. Dynamic sailing boat. Wind, sea waves, sail deformation and boat motion and navigation were all dynamics driven.

VooDoo Animation System (1996-1998)

Part of Vassili's PhD research at the National Centre for Computer Animation, Bournemouth University. Development of an interactive animation system for visco-elastically deformable models. The system and set of tools were used to produce several animations featuring, among other creatures, a giant squid and a sperm whale.

Implementation was based on C/C++ and OpenGL programming and the in-house 3D animation package CGAL (developed by Prof. Peter Comninos).

Calculation of Solar Shadows in Architecture (1988-1989)

This work was part of the research project "Simulation of Thermal Behaviour of Solar Houses" funded by the Greek Ministry of Industry and was carried out at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. The project involved calculation of solar angles based on time, date and global position. Also calculation of oblique projections of architectural volumes and concave polygon clipping.

Implementation was based on C programming and the QT 3D graphics library from Apple.
